We’re pleased to announce that Karen Brown has been appointed as acting head of our Government Relations team, while experienced adviser Michael Cairnduff has been promoted to the role of Director.

Karen will combine her existing role as National Director with leading the Government Relations team.

Michael, meanwhile, will move from the Investor Relations team to become Director of Government Relations.

Current Director of Government Relations Astrid Serventy is leaving Purple in March for a new role in the corporate sector.

“On the behalf of our board and management team I’d like to thank Astrid for her significant contributions to Purple and wish her luck in future endeavours,” Managing Director Warrick Hazeldine said.

“Karen Brown’s government relations credentials are outstanding, with experience as a senior policy and media adviser at state and federal levels and as a chief-of-staff to a federal minister.

“Our Government Relations team, which already features the largest team of registered lobbyists in the state, is in very good hands

“We are excited about the opportunity to provide career development paths and promotions for our team.

“Michael Cairnduff has established himself as a trusted adviser and his strong background and interest in government policy and engagement mean he is well-equipped to take on this more senior government relations role.”

We have also announced promotions for two other senior staff, with Tim Grey-Smith and Carina Tan-Van Baren both becoming Associate Directors.

Community and stakeholder engagement specialist Jordin Payne has joined our Corporate Affairs team, while David Mano has been appointed as a Consultant in Government Relations.
