Olympic mascots have a chequered history. Misha the Bear from Moscow (1980) was cute. Syd, Ollie and Millie (Sydney 2000) were a little too cutsy. Wenlock, the “steel drop with camera for eyes” (London 2014) was somewhat disturbing. So what on earth can we expect from Japan 2020?
