Simon Corrigan joins Cannings Purple
Simon brings more than 15 years’ experience in corporate consulting, including four years at BHP – the last two years as the miner’s head of community and Indigenous affairs.
He was previously government relations manager and then head of corporate affairs at BHP’s Olympic Dam operation, has held senior roles with Atlas Iron and CITIC Pacific Mining and has political experience as a campaign manager and chief-of-staff for state government ministers and federal MPs.
Cannings Purple Managing Director Warrick Hazeldine said Simon’s diverse skill set would help deliver results for a wide range of clients.
“Simon is a highly respected adviser with skills that equip him to contribute across the full breadth of Cannings Purple’s business,” Mr Hazeldine said.
“His experience in stakeholder engagement and community relations is first-class, having led a newly created team as BHP’s national head of community and Indigenous affairs and driven the creation of a strategic approach across social investment and Indigenous affairs.
“Olympic Dam is one of the biggest mining projects undertaken in Australia and Simon’s role there required him to work with multiple levels of government and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders within BHP.
“His government, community and stakeholder engagement experience will help deliver key outcomes for Cannings Purple’s clients.
“He also has strong credentials in reputation and crisis management and our market-leading Corporate Affairs team, headed by Director Fran Lawrence, will only be strengthened by his arrival.”
Simon is looking forward to helping achieve important outcomes for clients.
“Cannings Purple has a well-earned reputation and I’m excited to be joining the talented team,” he said.
“I’m really looking forward to applying my skills and experience to deliver great results for clients and the community.”
The addition of Simon continues strong growth in key market areas, including the recent arrivals of another experienced adviser Peter Kermode in Investor Relations and stakeholder and engagement specialist Jordin Payne in Corporate Affairs.
Cannings Purple has also announced the appointment of Dane Chandler in a newly created position of Product Sales Manager, in which he will focus on taking the consultancy’s unique products to market.
Mr Chandler comes to Cannings Purple after a 20-year career at The West Australian, where he was most recently the national sales manager.
